Moto XXX Round 3 Race Report: Anaheim 2

Team Moto XXX doubles up at Round 3 of the AMA Supercross Series held in the friendly confines of Angels stadium. Both Josh Summey and Kyle Lewis rode tough placing their Moto XXX Hondas in the main event.

Josh Summey got off the line well in heat race one only to find himself on the ground with 5 other riders in the first turn. Never one to give up, Josh remounted in dead last and put his head down. He rode the wheels off his CRF450 passing riders left and right. Eight laps later, Summey was able to weave his way back into qualifying position crossing the finish line in 9th place and securing the final transfer spot to the main event. This marks the first main event appearance for Josh since the AMA series kicked off two weeks ago.

Heat race 2 got under way with Kyle Lewis nearly grabbing himself another holeshot as the pack rounded the slick first turn. Kyle rode a strong and smart race for all eight laps earning himself a 7th place finish and spot in the main event. This was the second straight main event for Lewis.

As the gate dropped for the main event and the pack thundered down the start straight, Kyle Lewis and Josh Summey both appeared to have excellent jumps and be in good positions. The first turn saw both Lewis and Summey holding the outside line with Lewis again close to grabbing the holeshot. Unfortunately for Lewis he would be pushed out and shuffled back as the riders filed into the second turn. Summey was able to sneak his way to the inside line of turn number two making some amazing passes and coming out in 7th position. From then on it was all about putting in consistently fast laps and that exactly what Josh did. Just past the half way mark a couple of riders managed to slip by Josh bumping him back to 9th. Meanwhile, Kyle was stuck trying to battle his way through traffic to earn as many points as possible. As the checkered flag flew Josh was able to hold on to the 9th position and secure his first ever Supercross class top 10 while Kyle crossed the line 19th. After the race Summey commented: "It feels good to be back in the main event and earning some points. I had some bad luck the last couple of weeks and I wanted to go out tonight, have some fun and get back to where I should be; inside the top 10."

Both riders and the entire Moto XXX team are looking forward to more top 10 performances at the upcoming round of the series kicking off this weekend in San Francisco. Cross your fingers the rain holds off until after the races and we&squot;ll see you there!
