LAPC: YZ250 2-Stroke Gets a Second Shot

“Are you going to race the MTA Two-Stroke World Championship?” asked my buddy, Jeff.
I heard a voice say “yes.” As it turned out, that voice was mine. When it comes to racing, my voice often operates independently of my brain. All I needed was a little practice—and a bike, and time to prep it, all in a week. Plenty of time!
In this case, I was lucky. My uncle had recently found a 2006 Yamaha YZ250 that was mine for the asking, as long as I returned it in better shape than when I borrowed it. When you pull a two-stroke out of the cobwebs to go race, here are some things to remember."
